how do i know its chinese new year?

• 95% of shops are closed. (thank god for mustafa!)
• the people around ang mo kio looked dressed up as though they're in town.
• my fridge is filled with mandarin oranges my father got from work/neighbours/random places.
• at 1am as i head to the kitchen for a glass of water, i can hear people playing mahjong.
• channel 5 is showing Shanghai Knight, the jackie chan movie with fann wong in it, yet again.

sugar high

i just came back from oh-my-fucking-crowded chinatown and i got a little excited at the mix and match mochi stall. mochis are like this glutinous rice chewy candy with fillings in the centre such as red bean and green tea. ended up buying a huge bag of mochis and i just gobbled up 10 at one sitting.

the whole bag of mochis sitting next to my computer is like collectively chanting..

"eat me! eat me! eat me!"


just wait my darlings. slowly but surely.



i dont have to be psychic to predict that i'll be shitting mochis for the next 3 days.

mint mcqueen

so today i thought, finally i get to satisfy the damn mint ice cream craving i've been having for the past few day. but then i realised both the Ben & Jerrys at raffles city and suntec city outlets are no longer there anymore.

:(

and then i come home and find out that Alexander McQueen, one of my favourite designers, committed suicide.

:((

oh, what a day.


ps: i'm in no way comparing the departure of the great mcqueen to my unsatisfied craving for mint ice cream. it just so happens to be on the same day. i'm sure his passing is a great loss for the world of fashion. he will be missed but his design aesthetics and his creative ideas will continue to live on. rest in peace.

i've been having this huge craving for mint ice cream from ben & jerrys that i've decided to make my blog color mint and my words chocolate.

just a little note

perfection.
we all crave for it. we all desire it. but what if, perfection comes with a price. a price that robs you of being you. would you still chose perfection? would it still mean as much?

perfection might not necessarily bring satisfaction. now i know.
now, those walls i've built, have just gotten even higher. thank you J. thank you oh so much.

it's starting to feel impersonal.

every time i blog i feel like i'm writing a press release instead of jotting down the random events of my life. i fuss over editing of photos, making the writing more interesting, and every small little details. it overwhelms me. it stifles me.

i need to stop pleasing others and start pleasing myself now.
