i think i've found out the reason why i'm fat.
everytime i meet up with my friends, its always meetup for dinner, meet up for lunch, meetup for cakes, or meetup for drinks, which includes huge portion of sides like calamari, potato wedges and chicken wings. every single meetup involves food. even if the main event of the meetup is not food, somehow or another there will still be food involved, like ice cream or random finger food (i.e. XXL crispy chicken).
just like the other time when i met up with sheryl, jiafang and cecilia. the whole meetup, like every other, once again revolved around food. this time around, it was a dinner buffet at Marriott Hotel.
me & cecilia
jiafang
sheryl
i obviously cannot resist the temptation of the food calling me, begging me to eat them so i was off heaping my plate with a little bit of eevrything.
started off with some seafood appertisers. i LOVE seafood!!
and the black pepper crab. omgsodelicious!
there were many other stuff that i ate also but then i was too busy eating to even bother to take pictures of anything else. furthermore i didnt wanna get the camera dirty with black pepper crab sauce! muahaha!
i finally got to wash my hands and took some fotos with the girls!
me & jiafang
you see we need to like relax for a little while first before we get started on the desserts! camwhoring is like the best way to let your food digest for a while!
me & cecilia
relax over a nice cup of tea!
me & sheryl
the rest didnt seem to get the memo about it being a 'wear-a-vest' day. haha!
TIME FOR DESSERTS!!
cupcakes anyone?
get set, ready... go!
and in a matter of seconds, all gone!
well the desserts werent really as yummy as they looked. thats why there were still some leftovers.
group pic time!
a nice formal shot.
informal shot!
alright, the best thing to do after eating all that food is ... sleep.
so lets go home!
confirm plus chop already. i definitely know now why i am still fat.
haiz!!!!
zhen me ban?!?!!!!!!!!!

Sing Dollar The Musical
i recently caught this musical at the esplanade theatre and it was fucking amazing lah!
Sing Dollar is a musical comedy all about money set in the red light district in geylang.
just the cast alone is like the main reason to watch this. it stars...
Dim Sum Dollies (Selena Tan, Pam Oei and Emma Yong)
Kumar
Najip Ali
Hossan Leong
Sebastian Tan (Broadway Beng)
Lim Kay Siu
OMG OMG OMG! its like an ALL-STAR cast cann!!
the whole show lasted like 3hrs inclusive of a 20mins interval. i got the category 2 tickets which is like the $80 ticket and the view was quite good. i dont really recommend the cheapest tickets ($38) cause they're like kinda far. like watching from the 4th floor. overall the show was really good with neverending laughs. they poked fun at mas selamat, TT Durai, michael jackson, and all the different types of prostitutes at the different lorongs of geylang.
definite A MUST WATCH!
so do catch it before it ends on the 8th August!

Food Review : Shin Tokyo
if you're ever craving for sushi but you're on a tight budget, then i've found this new place for you.
i chanced upon this conveyor belt sushi outlet when me and my friends (Acacia & Weiliang) were looking for a place to have dinner after school.
i saw that 99cents sushi poster and i almost had a mini orgasm!
Shin Tokyo, an affiliation with local japanese food chain Ramen Ten, is located at City Vibe, the mall next to Clementi mrt. i'm somewhat an adventurous person when it comes to food and i love trying out new places. the first thing i always like to check out when i enter a store is the ambience.
its quite a nice open concept outlet where all the seats are located next to the conveyor belt. the sushi chefs are right at the front in their open counter, so you get to watch your sushi get made right in front of you. i love the cool black chandeliers as it instantly gives the outlet a classier feel.
the seatings were mostly catered for either 2 to 4 people and it does look quite nice actually. if i'm not wrong only the backrest is cushioned.
the 99cents sushi are the ones with white plate only. theres like a choice of up to around 30different kinds of sushi for the white plates. quite a good variety. the stuff on the conveyor belt can sometimes be very repetitive but you can also order your sushi from the menu. there are also other stuff available on the menu like ramen.
oh, and the place is Halal certified too! so you can bring your muslim friends along as well.
i had the green tea which was like $2 or smthing and i dont think its refillable like other japanese restaurants. my empty glass was like on the table for ages and nobody came to refill. so i guess it either means its not refillable or the staff were just oblivious to their surroundings.
me and weiliang had sushi off the conveyor belt and ordered some from the menu. while acacia settled on a dry ramen.
now lets get to the most important factor. how good is the food??
well to me, they had some interesting selection of sushi in the menu like spicy salmon or tom yam tuna sushi. it was a bold and interesting choice to deviate from traditional japanese menu to cater to the local tastebuds with fusioned items. but while some risks bring you great returns, others turn out to be letdowns. the fusioned sushis came across as a forced marriage between 2 unwilling parties. in the end, everything turns out nasty.
the rest of the food were barely mediocre in the taste department. no matter how much vegetables you use to decorate a plate of ramen. the bad tasting ramen will still turn out bad. pretty but bad equates to pretty bad.
well, overall, if you're someone who frequents sakae sushi or share a deep love with sushi bought from cold storage, then probably this place is for you. the service in the outlet was basically average, nothing to laud about. in the end, the taste of food matters to me more than how the outlet looks. and if you want cheap and cheap tasting eats then go right ahead to Shin Tokyo.
just dont call me along.

photos from my holga
everyone thinks i only like to take photos of myself. they say i'm vain but then again, to a certain extent, everyone is vain too. i might be leaning towards the larger extent but hey, at least i'm honest about it.
so when i'm not taking photos of myself, i like to spend my afternoons taking photos of random stuff with my holga, anything that catches my eye really.
so ladies and gentlemen, introducing my first attempt at lomography!!
multi colored flats
chinatown & beautiful skies
a peek at my neighbours in malacca
where i spent my afternoons with my magazines & on rainy days i sit on the swing and watch the rain fall
the rabbit and the kisser
werdna & ila
silhoutte of the old capitol cinema
coconut tree surrounded by flats.
me, bul and shahul outside a vintage bag store
multiple exposure. spot me?
swissotel at noon
so how was it? nice??
its my first time using a holga camera and i kinda like how it turned out!

unsought revelation
normality never existed,
it was but a mirage.
pretense became my solace.
a moonless night descends
as the charade unveils.

Eight In A Box
i prefer plays to movies anytime.
a play feels more real to me. like in the movies there's like all this sound effects, whatever effects shit which does in fact enhance the movie experience but it takes away the real-ness and the intimacy of movie. in plays, you get to see the actors acting in front of you with no cuts or take 2, cause u obviously cant mess up and do it again like when filming for movies. so in a sense to me it feels more personal and real.
i was invited to watch Eight In A Box, a play directed by friend, Shaiful of Yellow Chair Productions. the whole play was a collection of 8 10-minute plays featuring works from awards wining playwrights all around the world. personally for me i was a bit skeptical on whether the actors were able to bring forth the emotions of each story within 10 minutes. and the idea of having 8 different plays together on 1 night might be a little too much to handle. nevertheless, its always good to approach everything with an open mind.
the play was held at the Drama Centre Black Box, National LIbrary Building so i brought Barney along to catch it with me. we got there a little early so we decided to hang around the national library building.
me
barney
while waiting for the play to start, everybody was busily reading their booklet in the dark.
well overall, the 8 diffferent 10-minute plays were a good mix of comedy and drama. yes there were some hits and misses in some of the different plays. a good one was Finger Food, a play about the comedic banter between a fork and a spoon hping to be picked for a meal. a not so good one would probably be Love & Light, the psychic had a really bad almost jamaican acent and the story was abit lukewarm. but nevertheless the whole play had more hits than misses. a good effort considering the cast were not professional seasoned theatre actors but aspiring youths with budding talents.
me and Mr Director, Shaiful.
such a lovely well worth spent evening. dinner, plays and friends. how great is life!
p/s : this post is dedicated to my only 4 readers, 'childaish', 'barney', 'jiafang' & 'upper east side resident'. i saw a demand and so i supplied. thankyou for your support!

economics 101
its the simple basic rule of supply and demand.
i supply when i see that there is a demand. and right now, i dont.
why should i enslave myself to the computer just to edit photos for hours and coming up with witty things to write?
i dont get anything out of it at all.
fuck my falling readership. i am not obliged to blog.
