2nd roll

today i finally managed to collect the photos from my holga that i sent for developing last week. the thing i like about having a film camera in the day and age of digital ones is the anticipation that builds up from wondering how the photos will turn out.

when i was young i always looked forward to accompanying my dad to the photo developing shop. it's always a treat to see how the photos we took during hari raya or a recent trip to Malacca turned out. and then we'd go home, look through them again and carefully slot them into a photo album. and whenever somebody comes to visit, we proudly present them with the photo albums while we eagerly explain each picture and laugh at those that didnt turn out nice. well, i kind of miss that now. digital cameras has somewhat numbed up from this excitement we use to feel from film cameras. now photos go directly into the computers and the once deemed unsatisfactory are deleted with a simple mouseclick. then they're uploaded onto facebook while people comment on them. in a way, the whole process is still somewhat similar. its just that it has lost its warmth.

so here are the photos that were developed from my holga which i received today.

SIM atrium. i've always found the roof of the atrium fascinating. reminded me somewhat of wheelock place. whenever i take the escalator from the basement to level 1. i love to look to the top, the glass roof is so pretty, especially in the day.

taking photos in a way is like a red traffic light. you make the moment stop by capturing it on film.

clarke quay. depicting movement in stillness.

fisheyed

so my friend pointed out to me that like almost every single post of mine is food related.

OMG! true ar!!

no wonder i'm fat can!!

URGH!!!

nevermind, luckily this post does not centralise around food. in fact, its something totally opposite.

its about SPORTS!!!

i know like lots of you are now probably going WTF WTF WTF!!

Ali-Joe and sports??? isnt that an oxymoron. does he even do sports???

well, OF COURSE I DO!!

i love bowling!!!

DSCF4898.jpg picture by alvinhilton
dont roll your eyes at me!!! bowling is a sport okay!!!

anyway, have you realise that its so hard to find a bowling alley in singapore now? theres like only so few places that you can bowl here. i guess in the era of video games, nobody cares to play boring bowling anymore. i mean, if they really wanted to play bowling, they can just do it on wii.

so like one of the place i know that still has a bowling alley is marina square.

met up with PETS, my unimates, sans john who couldnt make it, at city hall and we walked over to marina square!

photos from my holga

everyone thinks i only like to take photos of myself. they say i'm vain but then again, to a certain extent, everyone is vain too. i might be leaning towards the larger extent but hey, at least i'm honest about it.

so when i'm not taking photos of myself, i like to spend my afternoons taking photos of random stuff with my holga, anything that catches my eye really.

so ladies and gentlemen, introducing my first attempt at lomography!!

Singapore Gave A Dam!

sometimes going to orchard road all the time gets boring and the last thing you want to do is go out shopping. seriously, i feel like i'm running out of things to do on our little red dot. so i was reading papers one day and i chanced i upon this article regarding Singapore's biggest damn dam.

The Marina Barage

i have this little thing in me where i like to explore new or interesting places and just take fotos of the area while enjoying a scenic walk. i've found that by doing such things, its kinda therapeutic. i mean who doesn't like taking breezy walks at nice locales on Saturday afternoons.

so here's the results of my wonderful afternoon. just have to warn you first, that i'm not a trained photographer, so please don't expect gorgeous pictures.

all the grass patch that you see from the above photos are actually the rooftop of Marina Barrage. there were people flying kites and having picnics at the rooftop. and the view is just too lovely. you can see the Singapore flyer very clearly and all those CBD buildings make such a nice backdrop for a picnic.

260120091110.jpg picture by alvinhilton

260120091109.jpg picture by alvinhilton

this is the Solar Park at the rooftop where they use all the solar panels to power the Barrage.

260120091106.jpg picture by alvinhilton

this is like bridge that controls waterflow. notice that the water on both side of the bridge is like different color. this is due to the depth of the water or something. *flicks hair*

i know my explanations are really retarded. but like i dont study engineering or whatever subject that teaches you how to operate this dam. i do however am taking a marketing degree. so i could probably sell you the dam or do intensive advertising and promotions for it. (:

anyway, guess what i saw when i looked up in the sky?!

it was a cloud in the shape of a heart. well, it doesnt really look like a cloud that much in the picture cause i totally forgot to take a foto of it until like 10seconds of just standing there admiring it. so the wind kinda deformed it by the time i snapped a picture. nevertheless, still nice!

alright, thats it for today's entry. wow, this is like my first pictorial blog entry that doesnt have a photo of me in it. HAHAHA!! shocking right?!

well, the Marina Barrage is a litle inaccessible unless you drive but still, do try and check it out. its a nice place for a walk on windy afternoon.
