i'm not exactly a huge fan, but he was an icon. i knew his songs and i watched him on television as i grew up. and now, the king of pop is dead.
i can't help but feel devastated at this sudden loss of a talented man.

my dream wadrobe
have you all ever been into a store and saw something you like very much but you didnt buy it because
a) its too expensive
b) its not appropriate for Singapore's hot climate
or
c) you like it but afraid you'll negative remarks from people (ie. look very 'Mat')
well, i've encountered such situations like ALL THE TIME!! i'm somebody who loves to layer clothes, meaning wearing a jacket or a vest over a shirt, but then, have you seen the sun lately. very unforgiving!
as much as i love shopping, its actually hard for me to find something i like. i like clothes or acessories with interesting details but if you've been shopping in Singapore, you'll notice that everything you can find in the malls looks boring and every store sells similar boring item. and when i finally see something i like, its way beyond my budget. i mean as a uni student, i dont really have a school uniform, so if i spend all my money on a nice jacket, i cant possibly wear that jacket everyday since i got no money left to buy any other clothes. right now, quantity is more important to me than quality.
and of course, countless times when i go shopping with friends and i spot something that catches my eye, they'll go ''eww, you're definitely not getting that right? looks so 'Mat' (a style of a group of youngsters in Singapore - usually frowned upon)'' or i'll get the 'like very weird leh'. in the end, i get psycho-ed by such remarks that i dont buy the clothes.
well,
what if, what IF, you could wear anything, anything at all and not worry about these factors. what would you wear?
i was checking out the recent looks from the Spring 2010 runway in milan and paris, and these were some of the outfits that i would LOVE to wear.
i've classified the looks into 2 (school & general) and divided them into what i would wear for each of the 7 days in a week.
For School
Monday
keeping it low key yet injecting some color to brighten up the moody monday.

alright guys, i'm off for my 1 week reservist!!

i love my friends
well i thought i could be able to blog on a daily basis lately since it's my holidays but my endeavor only proved to be futile. i've been relatively busy these few days balancing meet ups with my friends as well as preparation for my reservist on monday.
yes my minions, you heard me right. coming monday i will be back in my slave uniform of green with my brown headdress. definitely not looking forward to the regimentation but a glint of hope is seen in the prospects of losing some post holiday accumulated weight.
since i'm already blabbing on about National Safari, i might as well coincide it with an entry about the gathering i had with the guys i first met when i was i brought in as a slave to the dire island.
introducing..
Akil, JY, GK, Ali Joe, Andrew.
only 5 out of 13 were able to make it. the others either already had plans, were studying overseas, or were too damn lazy to bother meeting up.
we met up at plaza singapura for dinner but since i was so-damn-full-i-could-puke from the yum cha buffet i had earlier, all i had was like a cheesecake while the guy had their dinner. you see, no matter how full i am, there's always room for dessert. i know i'm fat, there's no need to further remind me of the obvious.
andrew joined the ranks of DSLR posers on the street when he took out his DSLR to take some photos. he even brought a tripod okayy. its not like i'm complaining, i'm just happy that there was a camera around.
we had like a mini theme for each photo we took and this was themed 'Musclemen'. only andrew qualified i guess.
moving on to the next theme. this is 'Animals'. if you cant really figure out, GK is an elephant, JY is a monkey (or it could be a bat or some winged creature), i was so in my element as a playboy bunny, akil was a kangaroo i guess and andrew claimed to be sun wukong (some chinese mythological character of a monkey god).
we then moved on to my favourite theme, 'Robots'. if you've paid attention to the photos i blog, i seem to have a recurring fascination with a posing as a robot.
no idea what theme this is suppose to be so i label it as 'Arrows'. quite a nice formation though dont you think and the sky looks lovely in this picture.
'Emo'. though akil looks like he's thinking of something and i look like i'm looking at andrew taking a dump.
i think this one is nice. 'Camouflage'. captures the essence of being in National Safari. akil looks like he's having an orgasm here.
akil then came up with this stupid suggestion of a theme called 'Evolution of Mankind'. personally i dont agree with the idea of man originating from ape. anyway, in this theme shoot, nobody wanted to be the lowest lifeform. so we oh-ah-pei-ah-som and CCB i lost.
this is what you get for suggesting such a stupid theme. the next time i throw you off from a higher building! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
nevertheless, the night was really fun with all the crazy themed camwhoring and the catching up.

my uni results are out.
i passed!
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
omg, you have NO IDEA how much i've fretted over these results. yesterday's night sleep was like a really long drum roll. i kept waking up many times in the night thinking that its 2pm, the time my results will be released, with recurring dreams of freaking out.
and now, finally its over.
i'm so freaking happy laaaa..

what to wear? what to wear?
i realised, its been a while since my last outfit post. so lets make it extra special.

my inspiration for my outfits is usually derived from the music i listen to. i'm quite a fan of 30 seconds to mars, the gossip and the killers, and that was where i drew my inspiration from for this outfit.
drawing inspiration from something doesnt mean replicating a certain style. its more like drawing the essense of the inspiration and blending it with your own personal style to create the final look. this is what separates a fashion clone from a fashion individualist. the ability to interpret.
i admit i'm no fashion guru. i dont even go to fashion school. but i dont have to go some prestigious school of fashion to be able to have my own sense of style. in fact, most of the stuff our local fashion students put out looks like crap that nobody would ever buy. not even for halloween!

knitted wool vest : Leonardo Del Poggio (something my dad got on his trip to Italy)
blue denim skinnies : Lee
black leather ankle boots : Tangs
grey woven beanie : Club Marc
tortoiseshell glasses : Levis
black beaded chain bracelet : self made
i tried to keep this outfit in the sombre shades of black and grey to reflect my inspiration from the music but didnt want to make it to dull from being overly monochromatic, so i switched from a pair of black skinnies to this blue Lee denim skinnies to inject a little color. i also added the knitted wool vest for layering and texture, and complimented with the woven beanie to tie the look together and make it more me.
now you know why i take forever to pick something to wear.

you know what makes me a singaporean?
I LIKE FREE STUFF!!
i'm a sucker for free gifts. sometimes i buy magazines that i dont really read just to get their free stuff.
oh, and i get very happy when i get this magazine called Juice which they give out free every month at certain shops. the thing is, i only take 5mins to flip thru it to see the clubbing photos and thats it. nothing else in the magazine is interesting to me.
so when my school had a job fair, i knew there had to be freebies. i visited all the different different booths and collected pens, post-its, and random knick knacks.
and my favourite freebie of the day was this...
its a watch! nice right?!!
i had to endure this really boring woman talk about her job for 10minutes just to get this okayy!
i even dragged weiliang along to collect the freebies with me. wahahaha!!
he seems happy about it lor!
i seriously have no idea where the watch is now can!
ps: dont judge me okayy! i know you secretly like freebies too lor!
